Khairul Salleh Mohamed Sahari is currently the Vice-Chancellor and CEO of Universiti Tenaga Nasional, the Energy University also known as UNITEN, one of the first established private universities in Malaysia established in 1997. Prior to his current role, he was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Quality Assurance) of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) from May 2019 until March 2024. During his time in MQA, he was responsible for all quality assurance (QA) activities of the agency which includes policy and standards development, QA assessor development and deployment, accreditation of higher education programmes and providers in the country, equivalency evaluation of foreign qualifications, comparability exercises on QA processes and outcomes, and accreditation of prior experiential learning, among others.
He is also currently the Chairperson of the ASEAN Qualifications Reference Framework Committee and President of the Association of Quality Assurance Agencies of the Islamic World. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia.
Dr. Khairul obtained his Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from Waseda University, Japan in 2000, and his PhD in Engineering from Kanazawa University, Japan in 2006 respectively. His research interest is in the area of robotics, mechatronics and artificial intelligence.
